Geneva Lock, age 74 of rural Demotte, passed away Friday afternoon, April 9, 2010 at Jasper County Hospital. Geneva was born in Dyer, IN. January 6, 1936, a daughter of the late Johnnie S. and Geneva Pearl (Davis) Johnson. She graduated from Dyer High School with the Class of 1954 and resided in Lake and Jasper Counties during her lifetime. She married William “Bill” Lock July 10, 1954. He preceded her in death July 4, 2004. She was a homemaker and was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in DeMotte. Geneva had a gift for playing the piano and keyboards. She played piano at Jim’s Café, Dairy Queen and the Fase Center in DeMotte. She also gave piano lessons for many years. Geneva spent many hours sewing pillows for the residents of area nursing homes and sewed many clothes for needy families as a way of “giving back” to her community. Children surviving are Sophie (Mrs. Frank) Elmore of Morocco, William “Rodney” Lock of Wheatfield, Melvin (Robin) Lock of St. Anne, IL and Rhonda (Charles) Lawson of Veedersburg, IN. There are 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Brothers surviving are Johnnie (Jean) Johnson of Lowell and Charles (Betty) Johnson of Gary. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday, April 13th from 4 until 7:00 P.M. at the Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor James Clark officiating. Interment follows at Oakland Cemetery in Morocco. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.
