Grace L. Martin, 73, of Morocco, passed away Sunday morning, May 26, 2013 at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Oxford, IN on January 26, 1940, daughter of the late Harry C. and Ruby (Yarno) Hamelman. On April 12, 1959 she married Richard Martin. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2011.
Grace owned and operated the downtown Texaco station in Morocco for several years. She also worked as a waitress at the Lunch Box restaurant in Morocco and as an activities assistant at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center in Brook. She was a member of the United Church of Morocco and the United Church Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed puzzles and playing cards.
Grace is survived by her loving family: three daughters: Brenda (Dave) Mayotte of Watseka, IL, Holly Goddard of Fowler, and Valerie (Bob) Dawson of Morocco; three sisters, Cignora (Rex) Lee of Texas, Pat Kinkade of Kentucky, and Veronica Senasac of Fowler; and one brother, John (Dina) Hamelman of Delphi. Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband Richard and a daughter, Elizabeth.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Thomas D. Vance officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Vine Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
