Jacqueline “Jackie” Hope Blann, 82, of Morocco, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 2, 2014 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. She was born in Mishawaka on Jan. 20, 1932, daughter of the late Albert E. and Ruth F. Johnson-Carlson. She was a resident of Morocco since 1945, and graduated from Morocco High School with the Class of 1950. On July 15, 1950, in Morocco, she married Leslie Eugene Blann. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Before retirement, Jackie worked as a receptionist for the Clinic of Family Medicine in Rensselaer. She also had worked as a hospital aide at George Ade Memorial Hospital, a secretary for Morocco First United Methodist Church, and bookkeeper for the local Thrift Shop. She also was a licensed EMT. Jackie was a member of the Morocco First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women’s Club, Newton County Extension Homemakers, the Literary Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an excellent cook, and she enjoyed watching wildlife and playing Bingo. She loved visiting with her friends at the Nutrition Center and her coffee drinking buddies. Her family was everything to her.
Jackie is survived by her loving family: four sons: Dennis (Veronica) Blann of West Lafayette, Steve (Janet) Blann of Morocco, Garry Blann (Beverly Lowe) of Morocco and Michael (Angie) Blann of Lafayette; one daughter, Susan (Alan) Madison of Lake Village; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one brother, Daniel Johnson of Dallas, GA. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Leslie Blann; one brother, Phillip Johnson; and one grandson, Craig Blann.
Friends may call on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. (CST) at the Morocco First United Methodist Church, 203 S. Clay St., Morocco, IN 47963. Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Morocco First United Methodist Church with Pastor Wayne Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
