Obituary for Louella Stone

Louella Stone, age 85 of Wheatfield passed away early Monday morning, May 9, 2011 at Pulaski Healthcare Center in Winamac. She was born November 11, 1925 in Breathitt County, KY, daughter of the late Arzanas and America (Summa) Bradley.

Louella grew up in the Breathitt County, KY area and attended school there. On September 2, 1944 in Decoy, KY, she married Herman Stone. He survives. She had been a resident of the Jasper County area for the past 50-60 years. She was a member of Emmanuel First Love Baptist Church in Medaryville and had previously worked in housekeeping at Little Company of Mary Care Center in San Pierre. Louella was a loving wife and grandmother. She enjoyed farming and gardening and sold eggs when she was younger.

Louella is survived by her husband Herman Stone; seven sons, Charles T. Stone (wife: Kay) and Bruce Stone of Wheatfield, Wayne Stone (companion: Betty Wireman) of Francesville, Herman Stone, Jr. (wife: Dianne), Steven Stone (wife: Sandra), and Mike Stone (wife: Amy), all of Rensselaer, and James K. Stone (wife: Judy) of Danville, IL; and her daughter Sylvania Hershman (husband: Charles) of Wheatfield. Twenty-five grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Bonnie Jean Stone; two grandchildren; three sisters, Gertrud, Mertal and Berla; and two brothers, Forest and Champ.

Friends may call Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 p.m. (CST) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Pastor Etsie will be officiating. Interment will follow at Independence Cemetery in Gillam Township. Memorials are suggested to the family or to the donor’s choice.
