Obituary for Mark James Davidson

Mark James Davidson
Mark James Davidson, 81, of Morocco, Indiana, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at his home. He was born December 19, 1936 to the late James and Leeanna (Miller) Davidson of Highland, Indiana. He was educated in the public school system of Highland and Morocco, Indiana. He was a graduate of Morocco High School in 1954, and then attended the Purdue University School of Pharmacy, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1958. After serving his internship at Arth’s Pharmacy in Lafayette, Indiana, he went on to work as a pharmacist at Long’s Drug Store in Rensselaer, and then at People’s Drug Store and Fagen Pharmacy in Morocco.

His marriage was to Myra Marshall on February 26, 1967, and she survives along with their two children, John (Becky) Davidson of Donovan, Illinois and Shelly Knight of Morocco. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Kabrina, Krystal, Karley, Kamerin, Isaac and Leeanna; and one great-grandchild, Gavin. Additional survivors include Mark’s sister, Judith (Jon) Markland of Columbus, Indiana; his aunt, Nancy Myers of Morocco; and a score of nieces and nephews.

Mark was a member of the Morocco Town Board, served on the retirement home board, and the Newton County Board of Health. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and the Knights of Pythias. He was also a member of the American Legion, having served in the Air Force Reserves.

He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Mark enjoyed cutting wood, smoking his pipe, drinking Stroh’s, and spending time out at the family farm.

Private family graveside services will be held at Oakland Cemetery. A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held at the family farm on Saturday, August 25, 2018 beginning at 1 p.m. The farm is located at 3136 E. 2950 N, Donovan, IL 60931. Food will be served and a Remembrance Service will be held at 4 p.m. with Mary Kay Emmrich officiating. The family requests guests bring a lawn chair and a story to share.
