Patricia “Pat” A. Liersch, age 77 of Rensselaer, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Jasper County Hospital. She was born May 20, 1933 in Lake County, Indiana, daughter of Harley Earl and Ethel C. (Bailey) Harsha.

Pat attended school in Fair Oaks and graduated from Fair Oaks High School. She spent most of her life in the Rensselaer and northwest Indiana area, and also previously lived in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pat was a Licensed Practical Nurse and had worked at various doctors offices and hospitals, including Jasper County Hospital. She also had worked at the Rensselaer Care Center. She was a member of the Brushwood Methodist Church and The Red Hat Society. She enjoyed attending concerts. A couple of her favorite artists were Mickey Gilley and Bobby Vinton.

Pat is survived by her son, Peter “Pete” Liersch (wife: Holly) of Douglasville, GA; two grandsons, Bradley Liersch of Lithia Springs, GA and Peter Liersch, Jr. (wife: Jennifer) of Villa Rica, GA; two sisters, Agnes Elrod of Remington and Jean Scheurich of Monticello; and two sisters-in-law, Anita Harsha of Remington and Ramona Harsha of Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, five brothers and her former husband.

Friends may call Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Rev. Marjorie Egger is officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Rensselaer Care Center or to the donor’s choice.
