Obituary for Ronald D. Martin

Ronald “Ronnie” Dale Martin, 67, of Rensselaer, formerly of Morocco, passed away Tuesday morning, July 9th at his home. He was born in Rensselaer on March 11, 1946, son of Robert Owen Martin and Katherine Elizabeth (Kate) Armstrong Rains. He was a lifelong area resident.

Ronnie graduated from Morocco High School and went on to serve his Country in the U.S. Air Force. On September 27, 2008, in North Webster, Indiana, he married Donna Cady. He was the Veteran’s Service Officer for Jasper County. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Vietnam Veterans of America, Amvets, and 40 & 8.

Ronnie is survived by his loving family: wife Donna Martin of Rensselaer; two daughters, Karen Elizabeth (Jim) Bachman of Wheatfield and Kimberly Leigh (Mark) Tratebas of Auburn; and one son, Grady William “Chip” (Leslie) Martin of Oregon, Wisconsin; one sister, Joyce Ann Neibert of Morocco; and one brother, Jerry Francis Martin of Okeechobee, Florida. Seven grandchildren also survive: Michael, Kyle, Dylan, Brice, Rebecca, Luke and Grady James, and one great-granddaughter, Ava Marie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Richard Laverne “Dick” Martin, Robert Wayne “Bob” Martin and infant brother Owen Martin.

Friends may call on Sunday, July 14th from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. (CDT) at the Morocco Community Center, 409 S. Polk Street. Funeral services will be held at the Community Center at 3 p.m. (CDT) with Larry Lowry officiating. An American Legion service will be held just prior to the funeral service. Interment with military honors will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post #146 Pavilion Project or Jasper County Hospital Home Health Care & Hospice.
