Obituary for Rose Geleott

Rose P. Geleott, 93, of Rensselaer, passed away Sat., May 5, 2012 at Kindred Healthcare Regency Place in Lafayette, IN. She was born in Chicago on June 28, 1918, the daughter of Anthony and Helen (Genza) Papiernik. She graduated from Kelly High School in Chicago with the Class of 1936. On July 15, 1939, in Chicago, Rose married her husband of over 70 years, Walter Raymond Geleott. He preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2009. Rose lived in Gary and South Holland, IL before moving to Rensselaer in 2002.

Rose worked as a receptionist for a men’s pants factory in Gary for many years, retiring in 1975. She attended St. Augustine Catholic Church of Rensselaer and was a member of the Northwest Indiana Retirees Club of Local Union 1066. She was an excellent baker, cook and seamstress.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Janet (Ron) Binkowski of South Holland, IL; son Ron (Judy) Geleott of Rensselaer; three grandchildren: Kevin (Kate) Geleott of Rensselaer, John Binkowski of Aurora, IL, and Patrick (Kelly) Geleott of Rensselaer; and eight great-grandchildren: Andrew, Aiden, Camille, Zachary, Ava, Jackson, Aubrey and Lily. She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, five sisters and three brothers.

Friends may call Thurs., May 10, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m. CDT at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. A Vigil Service is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10 a.m. CDT at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer with Father Don Davison officiating. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Augustine Catholic School or Jasper County Hospital Home Health Care & Hospice.
