Obituary for Travis Woods

Travis Merlin Woods, 36, of Morocco, passed away Thursday evening, August 16, 2012 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. He was born in Lafayette on December 11, 1975, the son of Merlin and Marilou (Carlson) Woods. He was a lifelong Morocco area resident. Travis graduated from North Newton High School in 1994 and went on to earn his associates degree at Vincennes University.

On June 23, 2007, in Rensselaer, Travis married Dawn Mak. He was an insurance agent for Farm Bureau Insurance. He attended the Fellowship of Living Hope Church. He was a Boy Scout Leader and was a member of the Newton County 4-H Horse & Pony Club. Travis enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, motorcycles, antique tractors, and he was a real Ford fan. He enjoyed helping his Dad on the family farm, and he loved playing with his children.

Travis is survived by his loving family, wife Dawn Woods; son Sean; step-daughter Katelynd and step-son Zach, all at home; father Merlin Woods of Morocco; and brother Aaron Woods of Morocco. He was preceded in death by his mother Marilou and his grandparents.

Friends may call on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Steinke Funeral Home of Morocco. Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Edwin Bontreger officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or the Newton County Horse & Pony Club.
