Obituary for William Lindahl

William A. Lindahl, age 88 of Morocco, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Jasper County Hospital Alternacare. He was born June 12, 1922, son of the late John and Mary (Winslow) Lindahl. He attended school in Mt. Ayr and was a lifetime Newton County resident.

On October 17, 1947, he married Opal Hoover. She preceded him in death in September of 2001. William served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Morocco Methodist Church. He worked for the Newton County Highway Department for over 35 years, retiring in 1995. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

William is survived by his son, John Lindahl of Tyler, TX; two daughters, Charlotte Gotreaux of Sellersburg, IN, and Emma (Mrs. Donald) Boezeman of DeMotte, and a sister, Almedia Deardruff of Morocco. Six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Paul Lindahl, a daughter, Gale Lindahl, and nine siblings.

Friends may call Monday, February 21, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel of Morocco. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Steinke Funeral Home Brunton Chapel of Morocco. Rev. Greg Waggoner officiating. Interment will follow at Beaver Township Cemetery in Illinois. Memorials are suggested to Riley Children’s Hospital.
