Obituary for William G. "Bill" Marlin

William G. “Bill” Marlin, 67, of Rensselaer, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in Iroquois County, Illinois. He was born in Rensselaer June 23, 1946, son of Kate (Crume) Marlin and the late Henry Marlin, Sr.

Bill graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1966. He went on to serve with the U.S. Marines in Vietnam for four years. After serving in the Marines, he settled in Oregon until returning to Rensselaer in 1994. Bill enjoyed drawing, painting, reading and listening to music.

Bill is survived by his loving family: mother Kate Marlin of Rensselaer; and three brothers: Henry Marlin, Jr. (wife: Rita) of Ft. Worth, TX, Ron Marlin (wife: Debra) of Rensselaer, and Brad Marlin (wife: Joy) of Rossville, IN. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by: his father Henry Marlin, Sr. and a brother, Steve Marlin.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 12 noon with Pastor Larry B. Hansen officiating. Interment with military rites will follow at Weston Cemetery. Donations in Bill’s memory are suggested to The Good Samaritan Food Pantry.
