Obituary for Wilma Smith

Wilma L. Smith, 75 of Rensselaer, passed away Saturday evening, Oct. 15, 2011 at the Rensselaer Care Center. She was born in Morocco on Feb. 7, 1936, daughter of the late William H. and Marie (Reigle) Porter. She was a lifelong area resident.

Wilma graduated from Morocco High School with the class of 1954. On Aug. 6, 1960 in Morocco she married John T. Smith and he survives. Wilma worked for over 20 years in the banking industry. She was a member of the Brushwood United Methodist Church. She enjoyed baking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Wilma is survived by her loving husband John; two daughters, Stacey Campbell (husband: Mark) of Rensselaer and Steffany Brandenburg (husband: Jeff) of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Halston Campbell and McClain Campbell of Rensselaer; and two sisters, Joan Carlson White of Morocco and Ellen Freeland (husband: Bernard) of Brook. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Wanda Baker.

Private family services will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials to the Brushwood United Methodist Church.
